Salt Lake City has trouble keeping up with Jesse Walker

As a celebrated DJ, designer, and event producer, Jesse Walker has helped shape underground dance music, design, art, and culture in Utah since the mid-1990s.

Founder and editor of New City Movement (NCM), Walker has become an ambassador-at-large for House music in America's best-kept secret; Salt Lake City, Utah, and been featured by Thump (Vice), 5Magazine, Rinse.FMFADERMusic Is 4 LoversOut TravelerThe Advocate, MTV, Sassy Planet, SPIN, and SLUG Magazine.

When he's not playing host to respected artists from around the world with the help of the NCM family, Walker can be found gracing dance floors with his own deep, soulful, and organic mixing style.

New City Movement is known for its long-running annual “Bunny Hop” Easter Sunday charity event. Jesse specifically for his collaboration on installation and site-specific performance-based artwork. Including for the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (UMOCA), The Utah Arts Festival, and as music supervisor for the international dance company NOW-ID. More recently he has been a key player in helping bring Neon Rodeo, an INTEL sponsored Experience Lab/Creative Conference to life in the city.

DJ credits include performances for the 2002 Winter Olympics, Sundance Film Festival, Utah Pride Festival, Human Rights Campaign, and top billing with acts Empire of the Sun, Chromeo, Green Velvet, Bonobo, Horse Meat Disco, Amtrac, Brazilian GirlsBig Freedia, Crystal WatersEnVogue, WAR, along with DJs and producers from across the spectrum of dance music.

He also received early support from the crossover dance music artist KASKADE, who gave him his first residency, in addition to mastering his first mixtape.
